Winter is a time for cosy layers, soft textures and a time to dress for comfort.

If you have been stuck in a style rut, the easiest way to elevate your outfit is by combining different textures.

So what types of textures should you consider?

Silk/Satin - blouses, slip skirts, dresses, pants, jackets, scarf

Fur/Faux fur - Vest, coat, jacketShearling

Alpaca/Mohair - jumpers and cardigans (this texture is huge this season!)

Faux croc or reptile - shoes, bags

Lace/Broderie Anglaise

Leather/Pleather - jacket, skirt or pants

Cord - jacket,skirt or pants

Chunky knit jumpers/cardigans

Jumpers with interesting textures

Velvet - jacket, pants or skirt

Metallic elements - gold, silver, pewter - for shoes, earrings, rings and necklace

Shop your own wardrobe and use this list to come up with your own combinations. 

Don't forget to contrast the textures. It's the juxtaposition of the items that will add interest and elevate your outfit! 

Here are a few outfit combinations to get your creative juices flowing;

1. Silk shirt + jeans + cord or velvet jacket + add pearl earrings 

2. Chunky knit jumper + leather skirt or pants + add trench and gold or silver jewellery

3. Cord or Velvet jacket + satin blouse + wool blazer + leather pants or jeans + statement ring in gold or silver + leather bag

4. Leather jacket + silk slip dress + white sneakers 

5. Textured wool jumper with silk pants or skirt + trench + metallic ballet flats or shoes + leather handbag

6. Velvet jacket + fitted wool top + jeans + leather boots + silver or gold huggies or hoop earrings.

Your accessories ADD that metallic note that will put the finishing touch to your outfit.
